We just want to preserve the pictures and share with the class. We're displaying what we have, but look in your closet, boxes and storage bins and see what you can come up with! Those of us who went to country school may have some interesting pictures also. “Tama County Youth Government Day” of 1962 concluded a week of speeches from classmates who were “running for office”, flyers being circulated touting the “planks of their platforms” and the election at the end of the week. Below are the candidates running for office in 1962 along with some of the flyers that were circulated prior to the election. This was a lot of fun and a valuable learning experience.
